“I’m just not seeing any improvement!!”
Have you ever been there before? Seems like a lot of the emails I’ve been getting lately are from frustrated readers who were making great progress initially but for whatever reason have experienced somewhat of a plateau over the last couple of weeks. Their emails express frustration at a lack of improvement and sometimes even an attitude of “why keep trying?”. To all of you who have ever felt this way I offer this week’s “Fitness Motivation” post. Don’t get frustrated with your lack of results because…
Small daily improvements are the key to staggering long-term results.
It’s been said that it takes 4 weeks for you to notice a difference, 8 weeks for close family and friends to notice a difference, and up to 12 weeks for everyone else. You cannot allow yourself to become frustrated and upset if in one or two weeks you don’t drop weight or inches or gain muscle like you did initially. The whole name of this game is consistency. You have to be consistently striving and consistently pushing yourself to the next level. I think many people hit the plateau after 2-3 weeks because they’re still doing the same workouts. You have to realize that you’re not the same person you were 3 weeks ago. What was good enough for him/her then is no longer good enough for you today! Small daily IMPROVEMENTS are the key to staggering long-term results – you have to be better this week than you were last week; better today than you were yesterday. CONSISTENTLY and PATIENTLY strive to improve yourself, and I promise the staggering long-term results will come!
