“You pile up enough tomorrows, and you’ll find you’re left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. I don’t know about you, but I’d like to make today worth remembering.”
~Robert Preston, The Music Man
How many of you are guilty of playing the “someday” game?
“Someday I’ll give up fast food for lunch.”
“I would love to try that workout someday!”
“Someday I should really start to work my abs harder.”
Dare I say it happens to all of us to an extent. I would be totally and completely hypocritical if I said it doesn’t happen to me. Why do we do it? Because it’s easy. Because the someday game makes everything comfortable. Because if we can put things off until “someday” it doesn’t matter when we ever get to it IF we ever get to it. There’s no telling when it could be – tomorrow or 10 years from tomorrow would all still be “someday”.
Besides ambiguity there’s another trait that all “somedays” share. They’re comfortable. They’re a way to stay in our comfort zone without ever really pushing ourselves to anything greater. “Someday” is an excuse to be content with the path we’re currently on.
So how does one snap the “someday” cycle? How do you turn “someday” into “today”…
It all starts with a desire. A deep, burning desire that drives one to action. If you’ve read this far, you’ve already got a spark inside that says you do desire to be more than you currently are. As this desire grows, it gives root to action. Suddenly “someday” turns into next month, and then becomes next week. If this is the path you’re on, my advice to you is….
Make today your “someday”!!!!!!!!!!!
Start right now! This very minute! Stop putting it off and get to work! There will never be a better time than right now to make these things happen. If you’ve been meaning to eat better – DO IT! If you’ve been meaning to work out more regularly – DO IT (I’ve got an idea of where you can find some amazing workouts…). Anything that you’ve been thinking about – with your fitness, your family, your job, your boyfriend/girlfriend – deserves today to make that change! Stop putting it off until tomorrow. If your empty yesterdays are piling up, put a stop to them by doing something today! But you’d better hurry… tomorrow’s coming…
