We’re going old-school today. This one is for the children of the 90s. 

Time to revisit some of my favorite workout tunes from the days when I first started getting into working out.

These were the songs that blasted over the CD player in the gym and my Discman when I was going portable (remember when they came out with anti-skip protection? Revolutionary).

So put down your Gameboy, turn off Saved By The Bell, stop playing with your pogs, and leave your pager at home. It’s time to get your workout on.

Add these tunes to your workout playlist next time you’re in a throwback mood.

CAN LISTENING TO MUSIC IMPROVE YOUR WORKOUT?

It’s actually been researched, the right music can help you add an extra dose of power and motivation for a great workout. 

Listening to upbeat, motivational songs during exercise can help you perform at your max potential, increase your stamina, elevate your mood, and overall enhance physical performance.

By listening to the right song, it will provide the extra push you need to power through any tough parts of your workout and keep you going strong the whole time. You’ll be able to increase your endurance levels while diminishing feelings of fatigue.

The right tunes can help make or break a workout. You’ll find you enjoy your workout more when listening to this playlist.

IS IT OKAY TO EXERCISE WITH HEADPHONES?

Listening to music can be helpful while exercising, but you need to make sure it won’t be unsafe for the type of workout you’re performing.

You definitely want to make sure you are paying attention to your body throughout your workout routine, and not letting music distract you in a negative way.

Music during exercise can be a great way to give you an extra boost of motivation and power through a tough set, but be cautious in case you are going too hard with risk of injury.

Sometimes headphones can be distracting as well while lifting weights and performing strength training maneuvers. The long cords can get caught while you are moving around and can be dangerous.

The best way to listen to music during exercise is to get a device and headphones that won’t get in your way. 

Either use an activity watch with music, smartphone armband, bluetooth headphones with a smartwatch, or use a speaker for your music during a workout.

 

WHAT ARE THE BEST HEADPHONES FOR THE GYM? 

You don’t want to get your headphones tangled in your dumbbells during a workout, but you need your tunes to get you pumped.
