Want your legs to look amazing this summer?
Shorts and swimsuits here we come!
Want the secret to strong, sexy legs? If you’re planning on wearing shorts at all this summer and want to look amazing doing so then this is the post for you! There is a secret to getting shapely legs as fast as humanly possible. Squats, lunges, and deadlifts are among my favorite leg exercises, however if you’re looking for amazing definition and nonstop compliments on your awe-inspiring lower extremities then you need to train not a little harder… but a little lower. Keep reading to find out more.
The trick to bearing your legs with no shame lies in calf definition! Think about it – models on most magazine covers, runway models, and even fitness competitors are all decked out in their high heels. This toe-pointed position contracts the calf and provides crazy definition to the lower leg. One sure-fire way to get the legs your after is to train your calves to “pop” out of your lower leg. That being said here is my go-to calf workout. Shorts in no time – here we come!
Now there are two muscles that make up your calf. One that attaches above your knee, is worked out with your knee straight and is responsible for high-intensity, fast contractions. The other attaches below your knee, is more of an endurance worker, and is trained with slow, controlled movements.
This workout is going to shred both of them. Good luck!
Box/Stair Jumps
(as fast as you can; 30 reps)
3-way heel raise
(toes straight, toes in, toes out; up and down fast with knee straight, 25 reps of each)
Alternating toe touches
(jumping alternating toe touches onto a box/stair; 30 times)
3-way heel raise
(slow with slight bend in your knees; 25 reps each)
Box/Stair Jumps
(Like we didn’t get enough in round one! 20 more just for funsies.)
And repeat twice!
I usually tack it on at the end of my workouts (try it at the end of leg day!) since it’s pretty small and very muscle-specific. It’s quick, it’s dirty, and you probably won’t be able to move much tomorrow! Know that I do it to you all out love!
Try tacking this calf work on to the end of one of these killer workouts!
