The Get Fit Challenge is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. It rewards healthy choices with a point system. You’ll see that it’s not simply a challenge to lose weight; you’re rewarded points for lifestyle changes that result in healthy eating and regular exercise which ultimately help you drop pounds! You’re rewarded points based on everything from how much water you drink to the amount of fruits and vegetables you consume. Of course exercising is also rewarded: longer bouts of exercise will even get you more points! Keep a running total of weekly standings for your group. It’s a lot more fun the more communication there is: call those people in the challenge with you; post the standings around the water cooler at work; talk a little smack and try to do better than your fellow challengers! My wife and I have done this in many groups including my family as well as with my in-laws. It’s a total blast! All of the sudden, everyone is interested in everyone else’s performance and fitness goals. It’s a great way to build unity and a personal community where everyone is striving towards a common goal.
One thing you’ll notice is that I have named this challenge the “get fit” challenge. This is not simply a “weight-loss” or “lose pounds” four-week blitz. Rather you are rewarded for actual changes in your lifestyle that will ultimately result in long-term weight-loss achievements. Sure, losing weight is the ultimate goal, but the surest way to get there is to incorporate these changes into your daily life.
