The hardest muscle to train? YOUR MIND.
Fitness is a mental game. More important than the time on the treadmill, the weights in the gym, or even the miles on the jog trail is your frame of mind prior to and during these events. Why can I make that statement with confidence? Because it’s going to be your mind that quits long before your body does.
Keep reading to conquer the mental game.
Think about it – the last time you worked out what was it that made you stop? Most likely you had some thought like “okay that’s good for today” or “I’ll just run until 10:00 and then call it good.” Your body could have gone a lot longer or even been pushed a lot harder, but because you had this stopping point in your mind you made it to that benchmark and then quit. How much longer could you have gone? How many more reps could you have gotten had your mind not told you “do 10 and then you’re done”? Our bodies are capable of so much more than what we usually put them through.
So during your next workout, try to push harder! Do three sets of 12 instead of three sets of 10! Instead of putting in 10 minutes on a treadmill put in a 10-minute interval! Free your mind to let your body go as long and hard as it wants to and take your results to a level you never thought possible.
