Don’t be a victim of “one day” or “I should have”
In thinking about personal fitness goals, I think that all too often we find ourselves in one of two categories:
One day: “I will start that diet when I have more time.” “Tomorrow I will have more time to work out.” I should really go for a walk today; maybe I’ll do it right after I watch this show.” Simply put – it’s easier to procrastinate. Work out or don’t. Eat healthier or don’t. All too often, we fall victim to “when I have time” and “one day”.
I should have: “I really should have started that diet last week.” “Dang it – I missed that workout yesterday.” “Think of where I would be if I had started four weeks ago like I wanted to.” Living in the past is a dangerous thing. The thought “what might have been” usually results in a lot of unfulfilled dreams today.
The question I wish to answer today – What do we do about it?
The answer: Live For Today!!!
Put away your “might have been’s” and stop living in the past. There’s a reason why it’s called the past – it’s behind you. It’s done. No amount of worrying, wishing, or reminiscing will change what has already been done.
Likewise – stop worrying about the future! It is going to take care of itself. The future is going to happen whether we want it to or not. There will be a tomorrow and it will be what you make of it… but it’s not coming until tomorrow!
LIVE FOR TODAY! TODAY is the day that will change your future. Working hard and taking necessary steps TODAY is what will make tomorrow’s past memorable (deep.. I know…). If you’ve always intended to start that diet – do it TODAY! If you didn’t workout yet today, go do it RIGHT NOW! Stop procrastinating; stop thinking about what might have been; and get to work TODAY!!
