Your only competition is the person you were yesterday.
Everyone has their struggles. Everyone has their challenges. Most of the time, these trials are unique for each of us an individuals and sometimes challenging to nobody but us. What may be a walk in the park for one person is an incredible struggle for another. Maybe for you it’s exercising regularly. Perhaps it’s maintaining a healthy diet. Whatever the struggle, it’s real for each individual. We should all recognize and respect that.
So remember – the next time you see someone who’s obese in the gym; for that person the struggle might not be in the weight he/she is lifting, but in simply walking through the front door into the public’s eye and potential humiliation. The person breathing heavy on the treadmill may simply be thrilled they’re able to run after months recovering from knee surgery. Even those individuals who may be in the grocery store buying a bag of Oreos might be rewarding themselves with a treat after a week of healthy eating. The truth is none of us will ever completely understand what one another is going through. So remember:
The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of us, but those who win battles we know nothing about.
