Fitness Motivation – Push your limits to realize your potential

There’s a reason why they call it the “comfort zone“. It’s safe; it’s protected; it’s an area where you feel completely at home because there are never any new challenges or surprises. We like it here because things are familiar to us and, just as the name implies, it’s comfortable. While this all sounds welcoming and inviting the comfort zone also has a dirty little secret. It is also a breeding ground for things like mediocrity, average, and an overwhelming lack of results.

So what are you going to do about it?

The secret in a healthier, happier you lies in the very fundamentals of muscle strengthening itself. If I can teach you but this one principle… a muscle has to pushed, pulled, contracted, relaxed, and ultimately stretched to its limits in order to build up healthier and stronger. This means pushing yourself. This means leaving your comfort zone and trying new things. This means that if you sit on the couch, go to the gym, walk, do your exercise DVD, eat potato chips, squat in your living room, whatever is your comfort zone, you may not be realizing your full potential because you have not yet started to approach that potential. Herein lies today’s motivation…

Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

Don’t be scared to push your boundaries. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Have you always wanted to run that 5K? Jump on a treadmill! Always wanted to try the machines out at the gym? Go do 5 of them today! Have you just wanted to get up and walk around the block? Stand up today, walk to the end of the street, and see where it leads! Get out of your comfort zone and start to push your boundaries! As you meet the edge of your comfort cone a miraculous thing starts to happen… it starts to expand. The scary, unusual, and unknown become more familiar, less-daunting, and (dare-I-say) more… comfortable.

You can do hard things. The secret is to try… now…

Make it happen,

Jared

Great post Jared! It’s one that applies to all stress in your life. You simply won’t succeed until you step out of that comfort zone and start getting used to bigger and better things.
