In most cases, the workout scene is a social one. When you go to the gym you’re immediately surrounded by a huge variety of people. It’s very easy to get caught up in the comparison game –”my chest isn’t as big as his” or “she has amazing arms. I wish mine looked like that”. It’s a fact of life that you’ll look better than some and you won’t look as good as others. If I could offer you one piece of advice when comparing your self to other people it would be this: DON’T.
Keep in mind that everyone you work out with and even that you see working out is all struggling for the same thing… a goal. All of us are on this journey together. We all find ourselves working hard to progress towards whatever goal we’re trying to chase down. While the direction we’re all headed use it relatively the same, we definitely find ourselves in different places along this path. Male or female; old or young; novice or expert – we’re all at different stages in our personal fitness progression. The vital thing to remember is that you are on the path! Don’t let your lack of progress or the fact that there are others at the gym who may look better than you deter you from your goal behind starting this journey in the first place! All of us have goals. All of us have desires. All of us have our reasons why we made sacrifices and go to such great lengths for our own personal physical fitness. What makes the difference between your success and your failure lies in how hard YOU push to chase down YOUR dreams! Remember, you can’t control how good other people look; you can’t control how strong they are; but the one thing you have total and complete control over is how hard you’re willing to work. And that makes all the difference.
