Let’s be honest – parents are busy! Between getting kids to school, working, errands, meals, soccer, little league, tub time and bed time we’ve got a completely full day! Too frequently our time for exercise gets replaced by other things we may have in our own lives or the lives of our children.
That’s why today I’m sharing a killer workout that you can do at home with the kiddos! Combine some fun play time with some killer at-home exercises and you’ve got not only an awesome workout, but a fun play date as well! Here we go!
Check out this fun video of me and my kids shredding through this workout (really, though, it totally just looks like we’re playing)! Scroll to the bottom of this post to get a written version of the “workout”, too!
Don’t you love my daughter’s shoes? These are the new “Reebok Zig Big N Fast EX“. She totally loves them! Her favorite parts are 1) that they’re pink and super girly and 2) that they have the big white “ziggle zaggle” sole on them (her own words!) that’s “really comfortable”. Reebok actually put a lot of thought and love into the design for that sole:
“Reebok ZigTech powers the way you play, with a super-sized midsole to cushion your biggest movements.”
She can run in these for hours (kids, right?) with her feet completely cushioned and supported. Some of the other special features on these bad boys include:
SUPERSIZED ZIGTECH MIDSOLE: Engineered for maximum cushioning in the heel and responsive acceleration in the forefoot
TPU PROPULSION PLATE: channels energy at impact for lightweight, accelerated mid foot transition
NANOBREEZE: Lightweight mesh upper provides superior breathability and comfort
At-Home Workout With Your Kids
Play tag – you don’t even need a very big space! The living room works just fine if you get a little bit creative (and are very dodgey!)! 5 minutes
Funny walk follow the leader – take turns being the “leader” and come up with as many funny walks as possible. The more time you can spend in a squat or lunge the better! 5 minutes
Crabwalk – down on the floor on your hands and feet with your face up towards the ceiling. Have races or play chase; as long as you get moving! 5 minutes
Plank contest – see who can hold a plank longer… just don’t be surprised when your child beats you! 2-3 minutes
Mama/Papa bear and baby bear – bear crawls are great. Playing with your kids is great. Combine the two into a killer exercise/super fun activity! 5 minutes
Push up contest – Let your kiddos do them on their knees – you have to do full push ups to make it fair! 2-3 minutes
