Well, it’s official – Christmas is less than one week away! I don’t know if your house is anything like mine, but with a four-year-old and a six-year-old this is shaping up to be the longest week of the year! Fitness Motivation – Don’t dream about success; earn it!

Simply put – the best things in life aren’t free. Any great reward is simply not bought without much sacrifice. My favorite analogy would be refining silver – it must be brought to an intense heat and carefully watched in order to make the purest alloy available. So it is in our lives – to be successful in your industry you must learn, grow, adapt and develop. To be a successful parent you must listen, learn patience, and understand. Real success comes with a price. It is not, given, received, or even passed down. Real success is earned…

If you want results you have to work for them! I wish my stomach was more defined, but sitting here thinking about it certainly isn’t going to help my six-pack. What is your fitness goal? Maybe to increase your max on the bench or squat? To lose a few inches and fit into that favorite pair of jeans again? I even recently heard from someone who was returning to her high school reunion this spring and wanted to “knock them all out”! Whatever your motivation… let it do just that – MOTIVATE you! Stop wishful thinking. Stop saying “one day”. Stop dreaming… and start working. With motivation, dedication, and a serious amount of hard work I promise you will realize your potential and make your dream a reality!

12 Days of Fitness – Core Workout

Merry “12 Days of Fitness“ everyone! Hard to believe we’re already up to to day 9 in this month-long December workout series. The last eight workouts I’ve been trying to mix it up and keep it interesting – something for everyone in the world of fitness. For the “ninth day of fitness”, we’re getting back to some basics with some good ol’ core strengthening. Today we’ll focus on shredding your midsection– just in time for you to write that follow-up letter to Santa for a smaller pants size!

Russian twists

One of my favorite exercises to get the whole abdominal wall fired up!

One set of 20 touches to each side

Side plank 

Try to suck in your gut the whole time you’re up in the side plank.

30 seconds on each side

Bridge on Swiss ball (Single-leg bridge if no ball available)

When working your core it’s vital that you don’t forget about your back/butt. Bridges are a great way to ensure your toning efforts go all the way around!

One set of 20 on Swiss ball (or one set of 10 on each leg this single leg)

   

Seated ab crunch

Great exercise to shred the rectus abdominis – that nice six pack muscle in the front of your abdomen.

One set of 20

Mountain Climbers
Finish the round strong by climbing the mountain – suck it in and keep the midsection strong.
1 minute

Assuming you and I are still friends, do two more sets of these five exercises. 🙂
