Fitness Motivation – Endurance

I LOVED this quote when I came across it. It was a great reminder to me that hard things are possible.
Last night I was sitting at my kitchen table doing some work and feeling a little overwhelmed. From work to family; coworkers to finances there was a lot on my mind. I started feeling sorry for myself and it was hard not to feel overwhelmed. I have found that whenever I start to feel this way it’s important for me to take a minute, “step outside of myself”, and take a deep breath. I can make it through – I’ve done it before and I can do it again. Whatever it may be in your life – be it fitness, family, work… whatever you’re facing – you can make it through! You’ve done it before… one day at a time. Great reward is most often accompanied by great sacrifice. You can do hard things.

Top Workout Songs of 2013

Looking back it was quite the year! 
Here are the Top Ten Songs that frequented my iPod while I was in the gym in 2013.

I can’t help but feel to include a disclaimer with this one: this list is in totally random order and therefore not even numbered. The list is no one’s opinion but my own – I love a wide variety of music and respect that you probably have your own style and taste as well. That being said, I’ve selected the songs that I like – the songs that, when they came on my playlist, I could usually get 1-2 more reps or finish that last lap with a little quicker step. I also prefer the clean, edited versions to anything explicit; it’s just who I am. Hope you enjoy!

Homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

Making your own salad dressing is not only easy and inexpensive, but it’s healthy too!

Homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
Ingredients:
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1 clove(s) garlic ( crushed )
1 teaspoon ground mustard
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, and mustard powder. Season to taste with salt and black pepper. Stir in minced fresh herbs if desired.
